The Vision for the The Landis Centre

Welcome to the Landis Centre— a prairie gathering place where families, seniors, and neighbors come together year-round.

A Place to Connect

Saskatchewan winters are long. While hockey and curling rinks are great, they don't fit every family's needs. For some families, that often means kids looking for something to do and parents wishing for a place to recharge. For our seniors — the ones who built these towns — it can mean fewer chances to stay active and connected.

The Landis Community Combine Centre is our answer: a welcoming space where kids can play, parents can relax, and seniors always belong. Sitting right along Highway 14, this is the region's gathering place.

Our Central Location

Map showing Landis centrally located between Wilkie and Biggar, with Highway 14 access and distances to Edmonton (423km) and Saskatoon (131km)

Landis sits at the heart of rural Saskatchewan, perfectly positioned along Highway 14 between larger centers. We're centrally located to serve families from Wilkie (north), Biggar (southeast), and surrounding communities like Saint Alphege, Wolfe, and Traynor.

Strategic Access: Just 131km from Saskatoon and 423km from Edmonton, with excellent highway connections making us easily accessible for regional events, tournaments, and family gatherings.

We're building something truly special: the first all-generation facility in our region. A place for families from Landis, Biggar, Wilkie, and surrounding communities — where every age group has a role, and every senior knows they're valued and appreciated.

The Family Behind the Project

We believe the move toward a small-town lifestyle is about more than just geography — it's about alignment. In the city, even with success in our work, we've felt disconnected, like our family is always running but rarely rooted.

With two young kids, we want them to grow up with freedom, safety, and a sense of belonging — where they can bike to the rink, play outside until dark, and know their neighbors by name. A slower pace means more intentional time together, and the chance to weave our work into community life rather than living parallel to it.

Small towns offer a kind of sustainability — not just environmentally, but emotionally and socially — where family, business, and community all overlap in meaningful ways. This project isn't just about starting a business; it's about creating a life that feels whole.

This is our chance to build something that serves our family while serving others. A place where our kids can grow up surrounded by community, and where we can create sustainable income doing work that matters.

Fun Facts About Us

Melissa

Once walked away from a hot-air balloon accident

Flynn

Once beat a current Roughrider in a 110-yard race at Mosaic

Thom

Made international news for reuniting a stolen camera with an Australian couple (not for killing someone, don't worry)

Cora

She's never met a snack she didn't like

The Decision Framework

Financial

Sustainable income that grows over time

Lifestyle

Work-life integration, not separation

Legacy

Building something our kids can be proud of

This project checks all three boxes. It's not just about making money — it's about making a life.

Melissa is the hippy witch of the crew — the one making sure there's calm in the storm, and that everyone eats something green once in a while. Thom is the ideas guy — equal parts dreamer and doer — which means there's never a dull moment. And then there's Flynn and Cora: the hurricane duo. If they're not singing and dancing, they're usually getting into mischief (with snacks close at hand).

After moving to Saskatchewan from B.C. in 2018, Thom's wedding videography business took him to more than 100 small towns and villages across the province. Somewhere between the prairie sunsets and community potlucks, it clicked: while the rest of the world speeds up, small-town life might just be the most human way to live.
